Ciplox is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic utilized for treating urinary tract infections (including acute uncomplicated cystitis, pyelonephritis, and chronic bacterial prostatitis).

Ciplox is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial antibiotic belonging to the fluoroquinolone class. It works by inhibiting DNA-gyrase, an enzyme found in bacteria that is crucial for DNA replication and the synthesis of bacterial proteins, leading to bacterial cell death and thus exhibiting bactericidal properties.

Ciplox remains effective against bacteria that are actively multiplying as well as those that are in a dormant state. It is prescribed for various conditions caused by bacterial infections of the respiratory system, kidneys, urogenital tract, gastrointestinal tract (including the mouth, teeth, jaws, bladder, and biliary system), skin, mucous membranes, soft tissues, and more. The antibiotic is effective against a wide range of gram-negative aerobic and gram-positive bacteria, such as Salmonella, Shigella, Proteus, Chlamydia, Streptococcus, and several species within the Staphylococcus genus.

Administer Ciplox precisely as directed by your healthcare provider, accompanied by a full glass of water, with or without food, at consistent time intervals. Increase your fluid intake during the course of this medication. Avoid consuming dairy products simultaneously, as they can reduce the effectiveness of Ciplox. Do not crush, chew, or break the extended-release tablet; swallow it whole. For the oral liquid form, ingest it without chewing.

Before starting Ciplox, consult your doctor if you have any kidney or liver issues, myasthenia gravis, joint disorders, diabetes, a history of seizures, low potassium levels, or heart rhythm disturbances. Minimize prolonged exposure to UV radiation.

Possible side effects may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, rash, headache, restlessness, confusion, hallucinations, paleness or yellowing of the skin, dark urine, and easy bruising or bleeding. If you experience any of these symptoms, discontinue Ciplox and reach out to your physician.

Do not take a double dose of Ciplox. If it is nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue as scheduled.

Symptoms of overdose may include seizures, difficulty urinating, weakness, or a combination of blue lips and pale skin. If you suspect an overdose, seek medical assistance immediately.
